Baylor Fans Relive a Legendary Moment with Nick Florence
Waco, TX — August 2025 — 1st University Credit Union was proud to sponsor Baylor Alumni’s Lunch With a Legend series, featuring Baylor football great Nick Florence. The event brought alumni and fans together for a trip down memory lane and a celebration of one of Baylor Football’s most unforgettable moments.
Florence, a former Baylor quarterback, is best remembered for his heroic performance on November 26, 2011, when he burned his redshirt to step in for an injured Robert Griffin III. He threw for two touchdowns, ran for another, and led the Bears to a 66–42 victory over Texas Tech — Baylor’s first win over the Red Raiders in the Big 12 era.
“Supporting events like Lunch With a Legend is one way we show our commitment to the Baylor community,” said Kevin Hood, CEO of 1st University Credit Union. “Nick’s story is a powerful reminder of leadership, perseverance, and rising to the occasion, which are qualities we value as we serve Baylor faculty, staff, students, and alumni.”
