1st UCU Joins Waco Community in Support of Caritas Feast of Caring
1st University Credit Union was proud to serve as a Silver Sponsor of the 2026 Caritas of Waco Feast of Caring, held October 6 at the Lee Lockwood Library & Museum.
One of Waco’s most beloved community traditions, Feast of Caring brings together businesses, organizations and individuals in support of Caritas of Waco and its mission to help neighbors move beyond hunger toward hope and long-term stability.
This year’s event featured a Soup & Dessert Cook-Off with 10 participants representing local restaurants, caterers, bakeries and school culinary programs. Guests sampled their creations while also enjoying a silent auction, games and other activities benefiting Caritas.
But for 1st UCU, one of the most memorable parts of the evening wasn’t found on the menu.
It was the community.
People from throughout Waco gathered together, visited, laughed, sampled plenty of soup and dessert, and supported an organization that plays an important role in the lives of thousands of Central Texans.
“Feast of Caring is a wonderful example of what makes this community special,” said Kevin Hood, CEO of 1st University Credit Union. “You see people from all different parts of Waco coming together because they care about their neighbors. We’re proud to support Caritas and to be part of a community that continues to show up for one another.”
Caritas of Waco provides food, resources and services designed to help individuals and families meet immediate needs while working toward greater long-term stability. Through the support of volunteers, donors, community partners and events such as Feast of Caring, the organization serves more than 120,000 individuals each year.
For 1st University Credit Union, supporting organizations such as Caritas reflects the credit union’s longstanding commitment to the communities it serves.
We were honored to be a Silver Sponsor of the 2026 Feast of Caring and even more grateful for the opportunity to spend an evening surrounded by people who believe in helping their neighbors.
