Account Changes

  • The merger team, including dedicated employees from both credit unions, has worked tirelessly to minimize any potential disruption to your account.

Services and Products

  • 1st University Credit Union offers a range of both deposit products and loans:

    Deposit Accounts: savings, certificates of deposit

    Transaction Accounts: checking, money market

    Consumer Loans: automobiles, motorcycles, recreational vehicles (RVs, ATVs, boats), signature

    Real Estate Loans: mortgages (conventional, VA, FHA, USDA), home equity, construction, home improvement, swimming pool

    Student Loans: in school undergraduate/graduate, parent

    Mastercard Debit Card: compatible with ApplePay, GooglePay, and SamsungPay

    1st University CU does not offer line of credit loans.

  • Your existing savings and loan accounts will transfer to 1st UCU.

    Your savings balance will carry over and will accrue interest at the same rate as before the merger.

    Your loan balance will carry over at the same interest rate and payment term. You will make payments to 1st UCU starting with payments due January 1, 2024.

    Payments can be mailed to 1st University Credit Union, One Bear Place Box 97102, Waco, TX 76798 or brought to the credit union located at 24 LaSalle Avenue, Waco, TX 76706. If you wish to make a payment using a debit card, call a member services rep at (254) 752-2797.

  • Good news! There will not be a waiting period before you can open new accounts or apply for loans.

Rates and Fees

  • All existing rates and payment terms will carry over to your new 1st University Credit Union account.

    Additional credit will not be extended on current Line of Credit loans because 1st UCU does not offer this loan type. However, if additional credit is needed, please consider applying for a personal signature loan.

  • Interest rates will not change.

    The late payment fee at 1st UCU is 5% of the payment amount with a minimum fee of $5.

    1st University does not charge an excessive withdrawal fee on savings accounts.

    The price charged on other services may vary between the two credit unions, but we are confident you will find them to be within the realm of fair, customary, and competitive.

Access To Funds

  • Yes! You have access to your money at all times.

  • No! There will be no temporary restrictions on withdrawals.

  • Your direct deposit will be routed to your new 1st UCU account. You will have immediate access to your current direct deposit.

    Should you originate a new direct deposit after January 1, 2024, you will use 1st UCU’s routing number: 3119-8980-7

    Securely review your monthly 1st UCU statements (you’ll need to enroll in estatements first.)

  • You can request access to online banking and mobile banking as soon as you would like. Contact the team by text, phone, email, or stop by.

    Your current email address is required to enroll in both platforms.

    To download the app go to the Apple App Store or Google Play.

Branch and ATM Locations

  • The current WFCU branch will close as of Friday, December 29.

    1st University has a branch located in Waco at 24 LaSalle Ave, which is open Monday thru Friday, 9:00am to 5:30pm

    As a member of 1st UCU, you have access to over 5,600 shared branch locations worldwide and over 30,000 free ATMs.

  • Yes. 1st University Credit Union offers a Mastercard debit card with all checking accounts. This card can be used at ATMs to withdraw funds from your accounts, and, of course, to make purchases.

    1st UCU participates in the Co-op Shared ATM Network, as such, you can use over 30,000 ATMs nationwide, all free of charge. Click here to learn more.

  • Yes, you can cash a check at the branch located at 24 LaSalle Ave in Waco.

    We also offer wire transfers, money orders, cashiers checks, and free notary services.

Merger Process

  • Because its field of membership was limited to the employees of O-I Glass, Inc., Waconized Federal Credit Union made the decision to merge when O-I announced they would be closing the the Waco plant.

  • To maintain your account as-is requires no action on your part. However, we highly recommend that you verify that your email address and mailing address is up to date in our system.

    To expand your account to include other products, such as a checking account or loan, simply contact the credit union at (254) 752-2797 (call or text) or stop by the branch at 24 LaSalle in Waco. One of our Member Services Reps will guide you through the necessary steps.

  • Rest assured, every effort has been taken to safegaurd your personal information throughout and after the merger process.

    Your data has been transferred from the WFCU system to 1st UCU’s system.

  • Your deposits will remain federally insured up to the maximum limits provided by the National Credit Union Administration (NCUA).
